The Great Autos planning meeting had much discussion about driving events, not only in the Coachella Valley, but across the club in general - leading to a theme of "Get Out and Drive". In that spirit, I'm planning a series of driving events for the club! We are going to start off small, and we'll vary it up so that everyone has the opportunity to drive their cars and have fun experiences with friends at their comfort level.
Our first event is a driving tour AFTER the Cars and Coffee @ Koffi on January 25th. We will be leaving the Cars & Coffee about 10:30a.m., and will proceed down Hwy 111 to the TKB Bakery & Deli (
www.tkbbakery.com) in Indio for lunch. It's about 14 miles and 40 minutes from Rancho Mirage to the restaurant. This restaurant has a varied menu and some amazing baked goods, as well as a large parking lot, so parking shouldn't be an issue. You can pre-order your lunch online if you would like,
I suggest you pre-order and pay for your lunch prior to leaving. It gets busy and you won’t have to wait on line.
After lunch, we'll be returning to Palm Springs via Hwy 111 again, and anyone that would like to stop for a date shake at Shields Date Garden (www.shieldsdategarden) is welcome to do so! I hear the date shakes are amazing!

Leave Koffi on Hwy 111 in Rancho Mirage, and follow Hwy 111 (also Ave 46 in Indio) for 13.6 miles. Make a left onto Golf Center Drive (just before Indio Blvd). Go 0.4 miles and turn right into the TKB Bakery parking lot.
For those who want to go to Shields Date Garden after lunch: Turn left onto Golf Center Drive from the parking lot. In 0.4 miles, turn right onto Ave 46/Hwy 111. In 0.4 miles, turn left onto Jackson St. and go 1.0 miles. Turn right onto Avenue 48 and go 3.0 miles. Turn right onto Jefferson St. and go 0.5 miles. Turn right on Hwy 111 and then take a quick right into Shield's. (This route avoids a left turn across Hwy 111). Alternately, you can go back down Hwy 111 for 3.4 miles and make a left into Shields.
