Spring is here and that means one thing- a young (well, relatively young) car enthusiast’s thoughts turn to cars. And traditionally for Great Autos, means a very special type of car- Heaps.
Yes, Heaps. Those glorious unrestored cars that give us all the fun of driving old cars plus the extra thrill of wondering if you’ll actually get there and back.
This year we’re trying something new and exciting. Through the courtesy of Brad Prescott and his crew at the Prescott Collection, we will be having a very special event- Heaps of Palm Springs coming up Saturday April 19th.
The gates will open at 9:30 and we hope to have all the cars in place by 10. That will give us a couple hours to tour the extensive Prescott Collection and view all of the patinaed beauties on display. Lynn Hammond will fire up the grill and serve freshly grilled hot dogs, chicken and veggie burgers around noon. After our delicious luncheon, we will present a few specialty awards before we venture home with our bellies full and our AAA cards in hand.
The cost is $30 per person (whether you bring a car or not) and includes the cookout. You must be pre-registered to attend. Space is limited so please register now on the website. There will be no on-site registration. The deadline for registration is April 15. While all cars are welcome, we will be giving preferred parking to those who bring heaps. Parking is not unlimited, so those with multiple heaps please bring your favorite. The heaps must enter under their own power as we do not have trailer/ tow car/ wrecker parking capabilities.
So register now. It’s going to be a heap of a good time!
